Georgian Red Cross Society and United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Office have partnered to provide social and economic response to COVID-19 related challenges, in particular, to support older people living alone in targeted municipalities in accessing information, preventative measures, protection and health related services.

 

Project is implemented in four target municipalities of Georgia including Kaspi, where a joint visit and meetings were organized on Sunday.

 

On August 2, at 11:15, Ms. Natia Loladze, President of Georgia Red Cross Society and Lela Bakradze, Head of United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) met with Mr. Tamaz Tatanashvili, the Municipal Mayor a.i. of Kaspi, representatives of the Red Cross and local volunteers.  During the visit, parties discussed the activities planned within the program including different types of support to the lonely older people in the above-mentioned Municipality, such as provision of services and information to prevent  and protect them from the COVID-19.  After the meeting, the participants joined the local volunteers in distribution of food and hygiene parcels to the selected beneficiaries - socially vulnerable senior citizens living alone.

 

These activities are implemented in the framework of UN Joint Programme Assisting Local Communities in Mitigating the Impact of COVID-19funded by the UN COVID-19 Multi-  Partner Trust Fund (MPTF).
