A Memorandum of Understanding between the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office and Tegeta Holding was signed by Lela Bakradze, Head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office and Vakhtang Kacharava, Executive Director of Tegeta Holding, on 13 June.
Under the Memorandum, the parties agree to cooperate in the direction of introducing family-friendly and gender-responsive workplace policies serving the purpose of ensuring the economic participation and empowerment of women, promoting the realization of their full potential in the labour market, and generally promoting the institution of responsible parenthood.
In addition, within the framework of the Memorandum, Tegeta Holding undertakes to support the MenCare Campaign, which has been implemented since 2016 at the initiative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office and which aims to increase the involvement of men as caring and equal partners and fathers in the process of achieving Gender Equality. Empowering young women and adolescent girls through raising awareness and creating new opportunities is also a priority.
We believe that in order to achieve all the goals pursued by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), it is extremely important to expand the circle of like-minded people and to work together in response to the challenges facing our society. Cooperating with businesses with high social responsibility is a special priority. We are glad that we have already taken some steps by establishing partnership with “Tegeta”, and from today onwards our cooperation will be further enhanced.” – says Lela Bakradze, Head of UNFPA Georgia Country Office.
Cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is a priority for us, as one of the main directions of the corporate social responsibility of Tegeta Holding is creating an environment where gender equality is a reality. For years, we have been implementing various projects in the direction of empowering women - we are especially proud that since last year, the first female mechanics have been working in our service centres, and we have invested quite a lot of resources in this direction, together with our partner organization. Cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund will allow us to scale-up our efforts for ensuring gender equality.” - says Vakhtang Kacharava, Executive Director of Tegeta Holding.
The events planned within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office and Tegeta Holding will be implemented from July 2022.
