On December 13, the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office and FC Locomotive Tbilisi was renewed for the third time.
The MoU was signed by Lela Bakradze, Head of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office, and Giorgi Kipiani, CEO of FC Locomotive Tbilisi.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the organizations was signed for the first time in 2018. The renewal of the Memorandum once again emphasizes the importance of many years of cooperation between UNFPA and FC Locomotive Tbilisi.
According to the Memorandum of Understanding and with the support of FC Locomotive Tbilisi, football players will actively participate in UNFPA-led activities aimed at promoting the idea of gender equality and healthy lifestyle as well as increasing the involvement of men and boys in advocating for gender equality.
The collaboration also aims to facilitate the engagement of girls in the football as a means of creating equal opportunities for girls and boys for the advancement of the equality in sports. Relevant trainings for coaches, referees and players will be conducted within the framework of the cooperation, through applying appropriate methodologies developed by the UNFPA, serving the purpose of increasing their sensitivity towards and raising their awareness of gender-related issues.
