The Georgian Football Federation (GFF), in cooperation with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office, has launched  a series of trainings for persons involved in women’s football.

The trainings consist of several stages and will involve coaches, medical and administrative staff of football clubs participating in women's leagues and women's national teams, as well as female referees of the Georgian Championship and coaches involved in the Georgian Football Federation (GFF) project “WePlayStrong Georgia”.

The trainings, providing the participants information on issues related to gender equality (violence against women and harmful practices) and reproductive health, is being conducted within the framework of the UN Joint Programme for Gender Equality, which is funded by the Government of Sweden.

The Memorandum of Cooperation between the GFF and the UNFPA was first signed in 2018 and renewed in 2022. Last year, within the frames of collaboration between the GFF and the UNFPA, trainings on issues related to gender equality were held for participants of the WePlayStrong girls' summer camp.

A number of initiatives aimed at strengthening the participation of adolescent girls in football and achieving gender equality through increasing the involvement of men have been launched as part of the collaboration and a number of activities and events are being organized based on joint initiatives, including the “Fathers' Cup” and others.
