Screening of a documentary on violence against women with disabilities

On November 26, 2021, at the initiative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office, Rooms Hotel Tbilisi hosted the premiere screening of the documentary on violence against women with disabilities – “The Invisibles” - directed by Vika Bukia. The screening of the documentary was followed by a discussion.

The event was opened by Dr. Sabine Machl - the UN Resident Coordinator to Georgia, Ms Lela Bakradze - Head of the UNFPA Georgia Country Office, and Ms Vika Bukia – the director of the film. Ms Maka Peradze, Head of the Human Rights Secretariat of the Administration of the Government of Georgia, representatives of the Public Defender's Office, the State Care Agency and the community of women with disabilities took part in the discussion.

The film "The Invisibles" was created at the initiative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) Georgia Country Office and with the support of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) Fund, within the framework of the United Nations Joint Programme "Transforming social protection for persons with disabilities in Georgia".

The UNFPA advocates for the elimination of gender-based violence and harmful practices and for the promotion of gender equality and women's rights, facilitates legislative and policy reforms, assists in collecting gender-sensitive data, and supports projects that improve women's health and help to expand their life choices.
