From November 25 through December 10, the United Nations, governments and civil society mark 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence. UNiTE and join the movement to #OrangetheWorld!
This Year UNFPA Georgia plans several activities within the frameworks of the campaign:
UNFPA Georgia is currently airing gender-transformative media programming on Rustavi 2 TV broadcasting company under the UNFPA Innovation challenge. The show features famous Georgian fathers taking care of their children without a wife being around. The theme of the show on November 25 is the launch of 16 Days Campaign and the discussion will touch the issue of GBV in Georgia.
A special training for healthcare professionals will take place on November 27-29 on Revealing, Referring, and Documenting the Cases of Physical, Sexual and Psychological Violence against Women.
UNFPA Georgia has partnered with World Soccer Georgia a local chapter of the UK-based World Soccer magazine where journalists prepare various materials on male involvement, fatherhood, famous football players, etc. An article will be dedicated to GBV in the November-December issue.
A public book reading will take place within the Daddy, Read Me a Book project. The event will be conducted in cooperation with Santa Esperanza Bookstore and Bakur Sulakauri Publishing House. A famous Georgian father will be invited to read fairy-tales to children and talk about gender equality and GBV to their parents, the event will take place on December 3.
Public letters written by famous Georgian fathers to their children within the project Daddy, Read Me a Book will be published and presented at a special event. Some of the authors will read their letters and others will deliver messages. The event will also feature an exhibition of photographs and videos created within the project. The event will take place on December 6.
