On April 18, UNFPA Georgia Country Office in partnership with The Union Century 21 organised a meeting with Muslim clergy in Ozurgeti Municipality, in the western Georgian region of Guria, to discuss the issues of domestic violence and early/child marriage, as well as the steps made by the state and the role of religious leaders in resolving these issues.

On April 19, the similar meeting was held with the Orthodox clergy of the Diocese of Margveti and Ubisa in Zestaponi Municipality, in another western Georgian region of Imereti.

The meetings in Ozurgeti and Zespatoni were organised within the framework of the “EU 4 Gender Equality: Together against gender stereotypes and gender-based violence" programme, funded by the European Union, implemented jointly by UN Women and UNFPA.
